UCPB named best fund manager anew

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — UCPB was named best fund manager for the second straight year during the recent Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Society Philippines’ Best Managed Fund of the Year Awards.

The bank’s UCPB Peso Bond Fund was once again recognized as the Best Managed Fund for 2019 under the Long-Term Bond Fund using Pure Fair Value Profit and Loss Valuation (PESO-FVPL) category.

UCPB first vice president Arturo Lipio said the back-to-back award is a testament to UCPB Trust Banking Group’s commitment to deliver consistent long-term capital growth for investors.

“The Best Managed Fund Award looks at long-term historical fund performance – both the risk and return aspects of the fund – and factors in the length of the investment period. UCPB’s robust investment and risk management process is critical to achieving consistent growth over the investment period. This ensures we provide our clients with the best possible returns while efficiently managing risks,” he said.

Karen Khristine Jonas, investments and portfolio management department head at UCPB, said the bank’s portfolio managers look at the macro economy first before focusing on the individual companies when making investment decisions.
