Cheng joins China Bank

MANILA, Philippines - China Banking Corp. (China Bank) has appointed last week Patrick D. Cheng as deputy group head of the Trust Group. A seasoned banker with over two decades of experience in wealth management, treasury, and consumer banking, Cheng, has most recently served as the head of Trust and Wealth of Philippine Bank of Communications (PBCom). He was with Citibank N.A. (Philippines) for 14 years, from 1990 to 2004, holding various senior positions, including category manager for savings and investments, treasurer, investments director, retail branch business director, insurance director, and as vice president for Global Consumer. He then moved to HSBC Philippines in 2004 as senior vice president for Wealth Management & Premier. Four years later, in 2008, he was seconded to and appointed as president and chief executive officer of HSBC Savings Bank, a position he held until his move to PBCom in 2013. In his last three years as HSBC Savings Bank CEO, he concurrently served as director of Credit Information Corp. and was also the president of the Chamber of Thrift Banks in 2011 to 2012.
