BPI supports AsPac tourism

MANILA, Philippines - BPI Credit Card has signed up to be the major partner of the very first Asia Pacific Drive Tourism Conference, Auto and Travel Show that will be held at the Subic Bay Freeport on Jan. 29 to Feb. 2. The event’s theme is “Saving Lives, Saving Costs, and Saving the Planet” and is in support of the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020 that aims to save five million lives and prevent 50 million injuries worldwide. It is a project of the Department of Tourism and Automobile Association Philippines, the country’s largest auto club with over 50,000 members. The president of the Paris-based Federation Internationale de l’Automobile, Jean Todt, will be the keynote speaker for the conference. Other speakers invited are the transport minister of Malaysia and the tourism minister of South Korea, Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez and Transport Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya. The conference proper is scheduled for Jan. 29 to 31 while the Auto and Travel Show is slated for Jan. 31 to Feb. 2. A dream car parade will be held on Feb. 1. The culminating activity for the first Asia Pacific Drive Tourism Conference, Auto and Travel Show is the International Kite Festival on Feb. 2.
