MANILA, Philippines - The Bankers Association of the Philippines (BAP) donated P2 million to the Department of Education (DepEd) to help rebuild and reconstruct public school classrooms affected by Super Typhoon Yolanda. BAP president Lorenzo V. Tan (right) revealed that more initiatives are currently being planned by the BAP to further help in the rehabilitation of public schools like the use of credit cards to accept donations for DepEd’s Adopt-a-School Program. ‘They (the donors) will be given a choice, either one time donation or 12 months, and the credit card company will take care of the rest. They really want to make sure that their donations go through the right group,’  said Tan, who is also the president and chief executive officer of Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC). Also in photo are: (from left) BAP executive director Cesar Virtusio and DepEd Secretary Armin Luistro.
