Ted P. Torres - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines -  The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) project in Pulilan falls under the Scalling Innovations in Mobile Money (SIMM).

The project, which was formally launched last week, was spearheaded by BPI Globe BanKO (BanKO) in collaboration with the local government of Pulilan in Bulacan and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).

SIMM’s objective is to boost expansion and rapid adoption of mobile money (m-money) services, and create an enabling environment for m-money.

These objectives are designed to: complements the economic development agenda of the Aquino government in pursuit of inclusive growth; promotes good governance through better transparency; and support the Philippine Development Plan (PDP).

Aside from the Pulilan project, the SIMM project is working with the local governments of Valenzuela, Quezon City and two others in Metro Manila.

It will likewise conduct barangay roadshows and information campaigns, financial literacy and m-money training, and improve payment of real property tax.
