Afghan bankers visit La Union bank

MANILA, Philippines - Nine delegates from the Central Bank of Afghanistan (Da Afghanistan Bank) and the Financial Access for Investing in the Development of Afghanistan (FAIDA) has conducted a study tour at the Rang-ay Bank last October. Rang-ay Bank is the biggest rural bank in the north and in Cordillera regions. FAIDA is a project supported by the United State Agency for International Development (USAID), much like the Microentrepreneurs Access to Banking Services (MABS) in the Philippines. The Rural Bankers Research Development Foundation Inc. (RBDFI) was responsible for the study tour under its International Study Visit program. The foundation is the research arm of the Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines (RBAP). The delegates were: Jafar Sadat, Director General; Asad Zafari, senior advisor to the Governor; Salim Salah, Deputy Director; Feroz Qyami, Director-AML-CFT; Mohammadi Khan, Legal Manager; Mohammad Abbas Saameh, EMI Section Manager; Abdullah Sawiz, Director; Habibulah Safi, Mobile Money Specialist of USAID/FAIDA and Joey V. Mendoza, Mobile Money & Branchless Result Area Leader of USAID/FAIDA. Ives Jesus C. Nisce and Leticia O. Asenci, vice resident for Operations and vice president for Finance, respectively, conducted the formal briefing with regards to loan products and foreign and local remittances to the delegates.
