BPI, Jollibee launch happyplus card

Manila, Philippines -  The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and Jollibee Foods Corp. launched recently happyplus card, the first cashless payment rewards card in the country.

Happyplus card is Jolibee’s customer loyalty program that rewards members with points every time they eat at Jollibee, Greenwich, Chowking, Red Ribbon (and soon) Mang Inasal.

Card members need to load the card in order to pay cashless then use the points as currency to buy more food items. It uses Offline Contactless Technology, powered by BPI.

According to BPI president and chief executive officer Aurelio Luis R. Montinola III, the bank has been able to deploy the program in 800 Jollibee stores in just six months. It will add 600 more Jollibee stores before the end of 2012.

“This is inarguably the payment of the future that we have made available and expect to perpetuate and support in the years ahead,” Montinola said.

In a separate statement, Jollibee chairman and chief executive officer Tony Tan Caktiong said that the program simplifies transactions and payments. “As one of the most trusted banks in the country that provides sterling banking services to millions of customers nationwide, we are proud that BPI is our partner in this endeavor,” he added.

Aside from the convenience of cashless transaction in all participating Jollibee stores, customers will be given corresponding raffle entries when they use the happyplus card for their food transactions, which are eligible for monthly raffle cash prizes.

To avail of a happyplus card and check for more details about the happyplus card, visit any participating Jollibee stores within Metro Manila and Luzon and buy a happyplus membership kit from the cashier or register online at www.happyplus.com.ph.
