Chua, Blas lead new BancNet board

MANILA, Philippines – Electronic banking provider BancNet has elected Ricardo R. Chua as board chairman and Robert Blas as president. Chua is executive vice president and chief operating officer of China Banking Corp. while Blas is vice president and Country Technology head at Citibank.

 BancNet has 90 members, including two affiliate switch networks. It operates the biggest automated teller machine (ATM) network in the country, which counts more than 6,200 units, or more than half of all ATMs across all networks nationwide.

Its 2012-2013 board of directors are: Luz I. Blanco (Metrobank), Robert P. Blas (Citibank), George P. Castro (Philtrust), Chua (China Bank), Elizabeth E. Coronel (Equicom Savings), Abigail M. Del Rosario (Standard Chartered Bank), Angelito V.Evangelista (Robinsons Bank);

Eriene C. Lao (PBCom), Victor Q. Lim (Chinatrust), Lance A. Martinez (HSBC), Wilfredo E. Rodriquez, Jr. (Asia United Bank), Ismael R. Sandig (RCBC), Rafael Z. Sison,, Jr. (Allied Bank), Gerardo Susmerano (EastWest Bank), and Daniel U. Yu (Security Bank).

Re-elected members of the board of advisers are: Carmelita R. Araneta (Bank of Commerce), Ralph B. Cadiz (Sterling Bank of Asia), Francisco F. Del Rosario Jr. (DBP), and Jesus Vicente O. Garcia (Veterans Bank).

Other principal officers elected are: Abigail M. Del Rosario, vice chairperson; Sandig, treasurer; Juan G. Coreces, corporate secretary; and Elmarie S. Reyes, assistant corporate secretary.

Chua also chairs the executive committee while Blas heads the project steering committee.
