Ateneo, La Salle join ING, Finex search for best CFO

MANILA, Philippines - The Ateneo Graduate School of Business (AGSB) and the De La Salle University’s College of Business (recently renamed Ramon V. del Rosario Graduate School of Business) have partnered with Dutch financial giant ING Bank’s Manila subsidiary and the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX) to assist in the search for the country’s most outstanding chief finance officer (CFO).

Now on its fifth year, the ING-FINEX CFO of the Year Award has been discovering and honoring “heroes beyond the boardroom” whose excellence, strong leadership and stewardship have helped steer their organizations toward financial stability, benefitting not just their stakeholders, but also the domestic economy.

Ayala Corp. CFO Delfin Gonzales Jr. is the first ING-FINEX CFO of the Year awardee in 2007. Other awardees were Sherisa Nuesa of Ayala Corp., Jose Sio of SM Investments Corp., and Ysmael Baysa of Jollibee Foods Corp.

ING Bank country manager Consuelo Garcia said that the Search does not focus only on academic excellence, but more on what the CFO actually brings to the job. The award goes to exceptional CFOs who have the business acumen, regulatory and communication excellence, along with financial expertise.

The search is not limited to the country’s top corporations but to CFOs from any private local and multinational companies, as well as government-owned and controlled corporations and government financial institutions in the country. However, a FINEX member must endorse the nominees.

Aside from the websites of the two business schools, nomination forms may also be obtained from the FINEX secretariat at Unit 1901, 139 Corporate Center, Valero St., Salcedo Village, Makati City, or downloaded at www.finex.org.ph.
