Citi launches online shopping

MANILA, Philippines - Citibank has launched Citi Globeshopper, an exclusive service for Citi cardholders that allows them to shop online and have the goods delivered right to their home in the Philippines.

For online shoppers who have experienced the frustration of having transactions denied, because the Internet retailer does not ship to a non-US address or does not honor credit cards that are not issued in the US, the Citi Globeshopper service will surely receive a warm welcome.

“Shoppers have come to embrace Internet shopping because of its convenience. Not only can you shop 24x7x365, there is also that customer segment that wants to take advantage of deep discounts available only in Internet sites, or to grab unique finds,” Mel Henson, vice president for Consumer eBusiness for Citibank Philippines, explained.

Citi Globeshopper service is available for free to all Citi cardholders. To begin using the service, cardholders must log on to the Citi website (www.citibank.com.ph <http://www.citibank.com.ph/>) for a one-time registration. From the homepage, click on the Credit Cards section, then the Citi Globeshopper box located at the right side of the page. Follow the instructions on the page on how to register using your Citi card.

After registering, cardholders will be assigned a unique US address to start shopping from their favorite US online stores. They can also shop via the Citi Globeshopper website, where they can browse the list of shops or check out exclusive deals.

When the cardholder’s purchases arrive at his assigned US address, he will be informed via email and can choose to have the items shipped immediately to his Philippine address or consolidate purchases up to one month before having them delivered to the Philippines.

With the Citi Globeshopper service, Citi cardholders can shop and get good deals in online stores of leading brands like Bluefly, Apple, Toys R Us, Macy’s, The Body Shop, Sephora, Crate and Barrel, Ikea, Bath and Body Works, and My Jewelry Box.

For online stores who don’t accept Philippine-issued credit cards, Citi cardholders can still shop using Citi Globeshopper’s Concierge Service to purchase the items for them, and this service is free. If you wish to use the Concierge to place orders at sites that accept Philippine-issued cards, there will be a minimal charge of $20.

To attract cardholders to try this new service, Citi will be offering a 10-percent discount on standard shipping charges. Cardholders may avail of this offer until April 30, 2010.
