Non-life insurer gets ISO certification

MANILA, Philippines - BPI/MS Insurance Corp. was awarded an ISO 9001:2008 certification recently by Certification International (UK) Ltd. (CIP). BPI/MS is the first insurance company in the Philippines to receive certification under ISO 9001:2008. ISO 9001 was originally published in 1987 by the International Organization for Standardization, a worldwide federation of national standards bodies with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

ISO 9001:2008 is a revision of the previous model 9001:2000 which offers a model for a well planned quality management system, a foundation for organizations seeking disciplined and controlled processes to help achieve customer satisfaction and continual improvement.

Under the revised version, an organization is given the flexibility in the way it chooses to document its Quality Management System. Such enables each unique, individual organization to develop the minimum documentation needed in order to show evidence of effective planning, operation and control required form its processes and the implementation and continual improvement of its QMS’ effectiveness.
