Collecting premiums from OFWs

-

MANILA, Philippines - The remittance partners of the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) in Hong Kong will serve as among the accredited collecting agents of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) in collecting health premium payments from overseas Filipino workers based in that area.

A collection and remittance agreement signed between the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), PhilHealth and the LBP will allow the subsidiaries and remittance partners of the two government banks to collect health insurance premiums from OFWs.

LBP president and chief executive officer Gilda E. Pico said the tie-up supports PhilHealth’s efforts to achieve universal coverage by establishing mobile offices abroad and provide members better access to benefits and services.

The two government financial institutions will also help PhilHealth in disseminating information about the new service, membership, premium contribution, benefits, and the rights and obligations under the National Health Insurance program.
