Metrobank internet banking tops

The Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co. (Metrobank) has an average of over 99-percent service availability for its Metrobankdirect, its Internet banking facility for retail and corporate clients as well as its ATM facilities.  This means clients have complete access to their accounts virtually anytime.

“Reliability is a very critical aspect of our electronic banking business,” Metrobank Operations Group head Dennis Suico.

Suico said that based on the tracking of the bank’s ATM downtime, an average ATM availability of 99.08 percent was achieved last year which is among the highest within the BancNet consortium.

The number of users tripled for corporate clients, while volume of transactions  expanded by 48.5 percent to over two million in 2007.  Transactions include cash management services, viewing, printing, and downloading of deposit accounts, government e-services, and loan information.

Retail transactions over the Internet increased as well, with the number of enrollees growing by 43.5 percent.  Transactions, which include fund transfer, bills payment, account statement viewing, and others rose by 30 percent, surpassing three million.

ATM transactions exceeded the 100 million mark in 2007.  These include transactions done by Metrobank cardholders using any of the switches of BancNet, MegaLink or ExpressNet.   The bank also noted an increase in the use of its ATM facility by non-Metrobank cardholders.  Such transactions increased by another 1.4 million to total over 20 million in 2007.

Metrophone facility continues to be an attractive alternative for clients to do basic banking transactions. The phonebanking facility enjoys over 150,000 enrolled accounts.  Transactions done through this facility has reached over four million in 2007.

Metrobank has a network of 736 ATMs all over the country and accounts for 29.4 percent of BancNet ATMs deployed.
