Metrobank has new directors

Dole Asia president Paul Edmund S. Cuyegkeng and Asian Institute of Management (AIM) co-vice chairman and trustee Felipe B. Alfonso were elected to the board of directors of the Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co. (Metrobank) during its annual stockholders meeting recently.
Cuyegkeng, who is also the president of Dole Japan Ltd., sits at the helm of Dole Asia, the top producing company in Asia.
In a concurrent capacity, he also chairs the board of Dole Philippines Inc. and Quantum Foods Inc.
Prior to his election, Cuyegkeng served as member of Metrobanks advisory board for three years. He holds a masters degree from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a bachelors degree in industrial engineering, magna cum laude, from the De La Salle College, Manila.
Alfonso is a luminary in the field of management, having held key positions in various industries.
Presently, he is co-vice chairman of the board of trustees of the AIM and executive director of the Ramon V. del Rosario Sr. AIM Center for Corporate Responsibility.
Prior to his present posts, he also served as president of AIM from June 1990 to 1999 and chairman of the board of trustees of the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) from 1994 to 2001.
Before his election to the Metrobank board, he sat in the board of the banks investment arm, First Metro Investment Corp.
