DBP launches ‘Unlad Pinoy Awards’

The Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) has launched the Outstanding DBP Entrepreneurs and Most Environmentally-Responsive Corporation(s) in line with its mandate to support the growth and development of entrepreneurship in the country.

DBP president and chief executive officer Simon R. Paterno said that "Unlad Pinoy Awards," is being undertaken in recognition of the bank’s retail borrowers. These particular borrowers should have made a positive impact on their communities and have contributed significantly to the upliftment of the standard of living of workers in the area despite the difficult economic scenario last year.

Paterno in a statement said that this would be the first time that DBP will be giving awards to its most environment-friendly corporations consistent with its ISO-14001 certification early last year.

Eligible for nomination are entrepreneurs and corporations whose projects were directly financed under the bank‚s retail lending facilities. These must have been operating successfully for at least two years, with up-to-date accounts at the time of nomination, and should not have been restructured.
