"Superior fund performance, a wide product line, access to topnotch distribution channels, and outstanding customer service all contribute in the achievement of our business objectives," declares PAMI president and chief executive officer Rex Ma. A. Mendoza. "We have a long track record of surpassing our benchmarks in terms of fund performance, thereby providing our shareholders higher than average yields for their investment," he said.
PAMI still gives a return of nine percent on its peso bond fund and over six percent on its dollar bond fund. "What makes it even better is that these rates are net of taxes to the investors, thereby making them worthy alternatives to common fixed-term deposits," Mendoza said.
PAMIs balance fund and strategic growth fund, on the other hand, have preserved capital values during bear markets and took advantage of stock market upturns. Despite the recent market slump, the Philam Fund is still up 10 percent on a year-to-date basis while the Philam Strategic Growth Fund is up 12 percent for the same period. "Our funds net asset values per share never traded below their par values," Mendoza said, adding that "we take much pride in that."
PAMI is the first asset management in the country to offer a variety of funds to its clientele. In fact, it still leads the industry in terms of having the widest array of fund choices. For PAMI, product development is simply a response to the reality that different investors will have different needs, risk appetites, and investment objectives. It is not by chance that such a conviction leads PAMI to blend mutual funds with life insurance, pre-need products, and other financial services to perfectly suit a clients overall financial plan.
One of the strengths that will be difficult to match is PAMIs access to productive distribution systems. Agency forces of PAMI affiliates, notably Philamlife and Philam Plans, have provided a steady stream of prospect referrals. Certainly, the Philam Groups cross-selling thrust has boosted PAMIs linkages with its target markets.
