Urban goes green

MANILA, Philippines - Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala and Senate Committee on Agriculture and Fisheries chair Cynthia Villar inspect the rows of plastic drums planted with lettuce and other green leafy vegetables at the newly launched urban agriculture project established at BF Homes, Las Piñas City. The project, which is under a partnership of the Department of Agriculture and the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Food, aims to provide additional source of fresh and safe food, and extra income for urban residents. It is implemented through the assistance of other DA bureaus including the DA Regional Office for CALABARZON, Bureau of Plant Industry, and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.
