MANILA, Philippines - Driving through the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) will be a more relaxing experience with the ongoing beautification and environmental program involving the planting of bougainvillea trees along the expressways’40-kilometer median. Hundreds of volunteers of Shore It Up (SIU), the country’s biggest coastal cleanup drive spearheaded by the Metro Pacific Investment Foundation, took part in the massive tree-planting activity held in San Fernando, Pampanga. A corporate social responsibility program of the Metro Pacific Investment Corp., SIU seeks to help rehabilitate the country’s coastal ecosystem by mobilizing employees of the MVP group of companies, socio-civic groups, and local government units. In photo at the tree-planting drive are Tollways Management Corp. (TMC) vice president for traffic operations Gerry Aberilla, TMC corporate social responsibility specialist Maricar Pangilinan and MPIC vice president for communications and PR Melody Del Rosario.
