Fujitsu announces environmental strategy
MANILA, Philippines - Fujitsu, the world’s leading ICT company, announced recently a corporate environmental initiative that reinforces the company’s place in the global marketplace.
This is part of the company’s commitment to innovate and contribute to a better environment.
The initiative consists of several green policies to be adapted worldwide and which would be driven by a Corporate Environmental Strategy Unit (CESU), working closely with global and local counterparts.
In cooperation with Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JETTA), Yoshinori Mine, principal expert of CESU, was invited to Philippines in early June to talk about the ICT that Fujitsu is offering for Green Growth and started the initiative with their local counterpart, Fujitsu Philippines Inc. (FPI).
“The CESU is responsible for giving environmental friendly solutions to all our clients concerns,†says Mine. “We are even working internally with various departments to develop environmentally sound methods.â€
Fujitsu is the world’s fourth largest IT services provider and among the five top providers of servers around the globe, holding over 97,000 patents. In the Philippines, FPI has over five hundred full-time Filipino technology professionals and boasts of more than 30 years of operation.
The CESU will serve as a support facility to Fujitsu’s sales team, functioning as a one-stop contact point for sales and help clients assess technology requirements from an environmental perspective.
The CESU will also assist in pursuing new business opportunities in emerging markets, engage other departments in the client’s organization such as Corporate Social Responsibility, Human Resources and Public Relations, add value to bid proposals, support negotiations, and conduct in-depth discussions on Fujitsu’s in-house environmental practices with prospects.
“As a company, we want to promote green solutions that will protect our environmental resources and help grow the customers’ businesses,†says Mine. “We want our stakeholders to know that we are not just technology innovators but we are also eco-guardians as we give high importance to renewable energies and the promotion of environmental awareness in all our processes.â€
The company has been named by Fortune magazine as one of the world’s most admired companies and ranked by Newsweek as the 17th most eco-conscious conglomerate. Fujitsu has been consistently pro-active in going green and has employed new ways for their products such as using mercury-free backlight LED technology and halogen-free retardants.
The company’s philosophy and core values embodied in what they call the Fujitsu Way are not just redefining what it means to go green. It is also a strong testament of their adherence to their principles and a call for other companies to do the same.
