FitFlop goes green

-

MANILA, Philippines - Green is definitely in as more and more compa-nies and indi-viduals are getting in-volved in pro-tecting the en-vironment. Recently, Fit-Flop, a revo-lutionary foot-wear, partnered with Earthday Network Philippines (ENP) to help ease the country’s solid waste management problem.

Proving that fitness and style go hand in hand with environmental concerns, FitFlop commissioned EDNP to create reusable tote bags that will be given out for free for every two pairs of FitFlop purchased. These bags are the products of EDNP’s Tarp Bag Program where discarded tarpaulins are recycled at EDNP’s Earthday Village, a sewing facility in Sitio Sampaguita, Brgy. Sta. Cruz, Antipolo City.

The Tarp Bag Program is a sustainable project that offers free sewing, cutting and pattern-making training to the residents of Sitio Sampaguita. With skills gained from the training, the residents are offered an option to either join the production team of the Tarp Bag Program or apply for a loan to own a sewing machine so they can work from home.

The reusable bags are sold to various companies, organizations and establishments such as FitFlop as part of their initiative to preserve the environment and help the marginalized sector make a living.

FitFlop shops can be found in level R-1, Power Plant Mall and Robinson’s Place, Midtown Wing where the FitFlop Tarp Bag is available. Fitflop is also sold at Res | Toe | Run (Trinoma, Ayala Cebu, Glorietta, Gateway, Rob Ermita and Robinson’s Galleria); Shoe Salon; ROX; Juego GB4; Travel Club Rockwell; and selected Bratpack stores.
