MANILA, Philippines - The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Global Warming and Climate Change (OPACC) and the National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA) are now accepting nominees for this year’s Fr. Neri Satur Award for Environmental Heroism.

The award is one of the highlights of this year’s week-long Earth Day celebrations which will be held April 19 – 25 under the theme “Earth Day: Climate Change Solutions”.

Presidential Adviser on Global Warming and Climate Change Secretary Heherson T. Alvarez said the award is being given in honor of Fr. Neri Satur, a Catholic priest from Bukidnon who lost his life fighting illegal loggers and protecting the forests of Bukidnon.

“The award is open to individuals, groups or entities which have contributed their efforts for the protection of the environment, in honor of Fr. Neri,” Alvarez stressed.

OPACC is spearheading this year’s Earth Day celebrations together with the NCCA, in coordination with various government agencies, and the member-agencies of the Presidential Task Force on Climate Change (PTFCC), to ensure a meaningful Earth Day celebration.

Nominations may be submitted on or before April 15 to the following offices: OPACC at Room 238, 3rd Floor, Mabini Hall, Malacanang, Manila, tel. nos. 7353144, 7361171, 7353069, email: [email protected]; NCCA at the Office of the Executive Director, 7th Floor, 633 NCCA Building, General Luna Street, tel. nos: 5272193, e-mail: [email protected].
