Coco development officers hold first national confab

The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) is holding  the first National Convention of Coconut Development Officers (CDOs) at the RACSO’s Resort, Guimbal, Iloilo on Feb. 3-5.

PCA Administrator Oscar G. Garin said the convention will mark the first time that all coconut development officers, who comprise the frontline implementors of PCA programs and the farm-level partners of coconut farmers, will be gathered together. These CDOs, who hold positions parallel to the municipal agriculturists, are stationed in the PCA’s various municipal field offices nationwide.

“It is about time that we give our CDOs crucial involvement in planning PCA programs and projects,” Garin said, adding that their actual field expertise and experience accord them an advantage in helping formulate and implement mechanisms and strategies.

“Their insights and inputs are very valuable since they are the ones who implement our programs and projects in the field,” he said.   Coconut Media Service
