The Philippines plays host to the ongoing 3rd International Conference on Agriculture Education and Environment which ends Nov. 7.
The four-day conference is being held at the Deparment of Agriculture-Philippine Carabao Center (DA-PCC) in the Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija, under the auspices of the Asia Pacific Association of Educators in Agriculture and Environment (APEAN).
Dr. Samuel Mancebo of UP Los Baños, convener and chairman of the conference organizing committee, said the theme of the activity is “Preparaing for the Future: Rethinking Higher Agriculture Education and Environment in the Asia Pacific.”
About 100 delegates from the Asia Pacific region are expected to attend the conference, which will focus on the following issues:
• What types of graduates will Asia need to meet these challenges of the future?
• Are the expectations of stakeholders who employ graduates of higher agricultural education being met?
• Can higher agricultural education in its present form survive without change? — RAF
