Group urges GMA to stop smuggling of agri products

-
The Agricultural Sector Alliance of the Philippines (AGAP) party-list group appealed yesterday to the government to stop the alleged smuggling activities particularly those involving "agricultural products," in the country.

AGAP chairman Nicanor Briones said, if the government is really sincere in resolving the country’s problem regarding hunger and poverty, they should first resolve the problems in the Bureau of Customs (BOC) regarding smuggling activities.

Briones urged PresidentArroyo to create an independent anti-smuggling task force to be led by the Anti-Graft Commission, some officials of the BOC and affected stakeholders, who will run after these smugglers.
