The countrys top 30 hybrid corn farmers will be honored by Pioneer Hi-Bred Philippines Inc. when it celebrates its 30th anniversary on Sept. 1.
Aside from the corn growers, also to be cited are business firms, selected stakeholders and individuals, and media practitioners "who have contributed to the overwhelming success of the company in the past 30 years," Jet C. Parma, Pioneer country manager, said.
Parma said the outstanding farmers will be presented to the media and the public at a press conference to be held at the Sapphire A, Crown Plaza Galleria Manila at the Ortigas Center in Quezon City.
Parma said the farmers were selected based on a comprehensive and stringent screening process.
"These farmers came all the way from the far-flung provinces of Luzon and Mindanao. This aims to highlight the significant contribution of their success to the agriculture industry and to the economy," he said.
He added that during the event, the media will have a glimpse of how the corn industry would look like in the coming years as Pioneer will share some of its future initiatives in enhancing both its products and services "which are expected to bring in more successful Filipino farmers." RAF
A photo exhibit of top caliber Filipino photographers focusing on the theme Buhay at Mais will also be set up for viewing.
