DENR to showcase livelihood projects

- Benny G. Enriquez -
An open house with the theme "Kabuhayan sa Kalikasan" will be held on Feb. 18 at the Liwasang Aurora, Quezon Memorial Circle at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. under the auspices of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

This undertaking will showcase livelihood projects as stable alternative enterprise using the bounties of nature in a sustainable way. This is DENR’s response to the President’s call for poverty reduction and wealth generation, and a supplemented effort in promoting environmentally-sound livelihood technologies as pursued in its Community Livelihood Assistance Special Program.

For this purpose the intricacies of starting the project, its benefits and varied considerations – the ecological, financial, economic, marketing and management considerations – are expected to be taken up. Experiences on successful entrepreneurship will also be presented.

The open house will also feature environment-friendly products and technologies. Their applications or uses will be demonstrated. There will also be health products and goodies for sale, and exhibits that will enhance awareness and appreciation of clean production technologies.

This affair will be graced by the top officials of the DENR and other government agencies who will conduct dialogues with the guests/visitors.

As concern for better living condition increases particularly in terms of financial and environment, it is expected that this open house will draw interest and participation among the various sectors of society.
