Lawyer killed in Maguindanao attack

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A female lawyer was killed while her partner, who is also a lawyer, was wounded in an ambush in Datu Odin Sinsuat in  Maguindanao del Norte on Monday.

Junisa Kimamaw died at the scene of the incident that occurred in Barangay Awang, according to Brig. Gen. Romeo Juan Macapaz, Bangsamoro police director.

Kimamaw’s partner, Ibrahim Pindatu, was taken to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.

Lt. Col. Jackson Lopez, Datu Odin Sinsuat police chief, said Kimamaw and Pindatu were traveling along the highway in a sport utility vehicle when unidentified gunmen assaulted them.

Probers have yet to identify suspects and determine the motive for the attack.
