MANILA, Philippines — A businesswoman turned mayoral candidate has vowed to transform Pasig into a “smart city” by utilizing technology to improve public services, emphasizing the need for change and progress in the city.

If she wins in the mayoral race, Sarah Discaya aims to enhance the quality of life for Pasig residents through key initiatives in education, health care and housing.

She said she plans to build modern infrastructure, including an 11-story university building, a seven-story high school and state-of-the-art elementary schools to give students more opportunities for learning and personal growth.

Discaya also envisions a modern, free hospital in Pasig, modeled after those in other countries to ensure accessible health care for residents.

“There’s no harm in emulating good practices if it will benefit many Pasigueños,” she said.

Discaya said her firsthand experience of the struggles faced by Pasig residents inspired her to run for public office.

She also said she plans to leverage her business expertise to implement reforms in the city.

Discaya likewise intends to continue providing assistance through her foundation, which has supported not only Pasig but other communities across the country.
