MANILA, Philippines — Chinese automotive firm Omoda and Jaecoo Motor Philippines Inc., which officially launched in the country on Tuesday, aims to sell 1,000 vehicles per month.

The firm also aims to expand in the country by having 24 dealerships within the year.

Omoda and Jaecoo CEO Shawn Xu told reporters the company is looking to initially sell 500 units per month within the first semester and to increase the figure to 1,000 units a month later on.

He said the company decided to establish its presence in the Philippines given its big market and the warm reception in neighboring countries like Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.

“We think that we have big potential here and we have good confidence because other markets have already proven that we have good performance,” he said.

He said the company has six operating dealerships in the country.

The aim is to have a total of 24 operating dealerships within the year in the following locations: Quezon City, Makati, Bonifacio Global City, Las Piñas, Manila Bay, Marikina, Carmona, Dasmariñas, Ilocos, Calamba, Pampanga, Bulacan, Clark, Tarlac, Zambales, Pangasinan, Isabela, Cagayan de Oro, Bicol, Cagayan, General Santos, Tacloban, Zamboanga and Palawan.

Xu said the company may set up a manufacturing plant in the country, based on vehicle demand.

The company’s newly launched Omoda C5 crossover, Omoda E5 full electric vehicle and Jaecoo EJ6 electric sports utility vehicle are being imported from China.

The company is offering the vehicles at promo prices until June 30, of this year, with the Omoda C5 available at a price range of P898,000 to P1.18 million and the Omoda E5 at P1.5 million.

Meanwhile, the Jaecoo EJ6 is available at P1.65 million for the RWD (rear-wheel drive) variant and P1.8 million for the AWD (all-wheel drive) variant.
