‘Enactment of moto taxi law to enhance commuter safety, job creation’
MANILA, Philippines — The passage of a measure seeking to regulate motorcycle taxis in the country will help enhance passenger safety and pave the way for the employment of more Filipinos, according to Angkas CEO George Royeca.
“The passage of this measure will ensure the safety of the riding public and enhance overall service quality, fostering a more reliable and secure mode of transportation for our commuters,” Royeca said.
Sen. Grace Poe and Sen. Raffy Tulfo are pushing for the measure’s enactment into law.
“As a vital component of this measure, a mandatory and ongoing training will be provided for riders to ensure they are well-equipped with the essential skills and knowledge to deliver safe and reliable transportation services,” Royeca said.
Royeca also noted that the measure, if enacted into law, would also provide more jobs for Filipinos across the country, enabling them to provide for the needs of their families.
Sen. Poe earlier commended Angkas for its leadership in providing proper training to its riders. Angkas was the first Transportation Network Company to develop its own basic motorcycle driving program, providing formal training to its riders to guarantee the safety of their passengers.
