MANILA, Philippines — Diversified conglomerate San Miguel Corp. (SMC) is set to welcome Wharton graduate Bryan Villanueva as its new chief finance officer (CFO) starting next month following the retirement of the company’s long-time CFO and treasurer, Ferdinand Constantino.
SMC announced yesterday the retirement of Constantino as CFO and treasurer effective Feb. 1, 2025.
However, Constantino will remain as advisor of the corporation and the board of directors.
Constantino was appointed as group CFO and treasurer in 2001. He has held directorships in various domestic and international subsidiaries of SMC during the last five years.
Set to take over Constantino’s positions are Villanueva as CFO and Joseph Pineda as treasurer.
Villanueva is the senior vice president for special corporate projects–office of the president of SMC since November 2023 and has been a consultant of the group since 2018.
He is concurrently serving as CFO of San Miguel Aerocity Inc., a position he has held since 2020.
Before joining the conglomerate, Villanueva was the managing director and global head of finance sponsors coverage at Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) from 2008 to 2017.
He has a masters degree in business administration, major in finance from Wharton Business School.
Meanwhile, Pineda is SMC’s senior vice president and deputy CFO. He was also appointed head of treasury of the company in June 2021.
Pineda, likewise, holds directorships in various SMC domestic and international subsidiaries.
As one of the country’s largest conglomerates, SMC has a diversified business that includes investments in fuel and oil, power, food, beverages, packaging, infrastructure and cement, among others.
