It’s still pouring for Rain or Shine
MANILA, Philippines — The merry and bright days of December may be over but the stellar win streak that Rain or Shine started during the Christmas holidays stretches on.
Picking up from where they left off in 2024, the Elasto Painters overpowered Blackwater, 122-106, to roll to their fifth straight victory in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup last night at the PhilSports Arena.
Coach Yeng Guiao’s charges rifled in six thundering triples in the first 12 minutes of play to seize command, leading by as many as 23 and never letting the Bossing to come closer than six the rest of the way.
At 5-1 overall, the E-Painters firmed up their position in the Top 2 of the standings.
The Bossing, for their part, slumped to their third consecutive defeat and 1-5.
“We’re trying to ride on our winning run. Sa amin ang importante makarating sa next round and sa tingin namin seven wins will do that. We have five wins now and we’re just looking to play and win another one, get as close to seven as soon as we can.”
ROS leaned on an array of heroics to open the new year with a bang.
Import Deon Thompson led scoring with 25 to go with 16 rebounds and four assists while Adrian Nocum (22 plus five boards and three steals), Leonard Santillan (20 spiked by four treys), Anton Asistio (18 laced with four three-pointers) Caelan Tingson (11) produced sufficient support.
George King punched in 35 for the Bossing. This was 29 markers off the sizzling 64 that King previously dropped on ROS back in Blackwater’s 139-118 rout in the Governors’ Cup eliminations last September.
“Last time na kalaban namin ang Blackwater, tinambakan kami,” said Guiao.
