MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has r BOC, Maya renew partnership enewed its partnership with Maya Philippines Inc. to further enhance electronic payment systems for its stakeholders.
In a statement, BOC said that a memorandum of agreement renewal was signed on Dec. 19 as part of the government agency’s broader push to modernize its collection processes and improve public service delivery.
The agreement was signed by Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio and Maya’s head of government relations and regulatory affairs Kristoffer Eduard Rada.
The partnership integrates Maya’s payment gateway into the BOC’s systems. This will allow stakeholders to settle various fees and charges using multiple payment channels, including online checkout, bills payment, PayMaya One POS terminals and Smart Padala centers.
Moreover, agreement also extends to the collection of duties and taxes for goods processed under informal entry procedures via the BOC’s ePayment Portal System.
The Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) and the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) are also key partners in this initiative, underscoring a collaborative effort to modernize payment systems.
Rubio said he is confident that this initiative would significantly improve service delivery and strengthen the agency’s commitment to modernization and stakeholder satisfaction.
“With the ability to uphold our respective responsibilities outlined in our MOA, we are well-positioned to meet our collective goals and objectives,” he said.
“The BOC looks forward to this collaborative partnership with the BTr, DBP and Maya and anticipates even stronger cooperation among all of us in the near future.”
The renewed partnership aligns with Customs Memorandum Order 06-2024, which outlines the implementation of electronic payment systems.
This collaboration aims to provide stakeholders with secure, efficient and convenient payment options, furthering the BOC’s vision of a transparent and service-oriented customs administration.
Through the use of technology and strategic alliances, the BOC reaffirms its commitment to innovation, ensuring that its processes remain accessible and responsive to the needs of the public.
