InLife urges Pinoys to save for holidays

MANILA, Philippines — Local insurance company Insular Life (InLife) is encouraging Filipinos to prioritize savings this holiday season as it launches a new campaign for the season.

In a statement yesterday, InLife chief marketing officer Gae Martinez encouraged Filipinos to prioritize savings.

“InLife wishes our fellow Filipinos happy holidays. As we approach the New Year and plan our traditional resolutions, we emphasize the importance of financial preparedness, including saving for unforeseen events and investing in life insurance,” Martinez said.

As part of its effort to highlight the importance of savings, InLife has released a video campaign featuring renowned Filipino artist Sharon Cuneta.

In her latest video for InLife, “Mag-Sharon Para Sa Kinabukasan with InLife,” Cuneta encourages Filipinos to save and secure insurance coverage to prepare for life’s uncertainties.

“Akin to Filipino culture, we bring home food after parties and events. This is popularly and happily called “mag-Sharon” referring to megastar Sharon Cuneta’s famous lyrics “....Balutin mo ako...” from the 1985 song Bituing Walang Ningning,” InLife said.

“But for the Megastar, “mag-Sharon” goes beyond taking home food; it means saving for the future,” it added.

Based on the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Financial Inclusion Survey, the percentage of Filipino adults with savings fell from 53 percent in 2019 to 37 percent in 2021, significantly impacting insurance coverage which also dropped from 23 percent to 17 percent during the same period.

Responding to this, InLife and megastar Sharon Cuneta launched the video and a billboard ad in NAIA Terminal 3 to encourage Filipinos and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) returning home to prioritize their long-term financial security and lead “A Lifetime for Good.”

Moreover, in the video, Cuneta highlighted the importance of financial planning noting that as one gets older, it is vital to be financially prepared.

To address this, she emphasized that she has policies such as InLife Retire Assure, for monthly retirement pensions, and InLife Resilience, for critical illness.

InLife is the country’s first and largest Filipino life insurance company, with over 114 years of uninterrupted service.

The company said that its Retire Assure product stands as the country’s first true retirement insurance product that provides guaranteed monthly income starting at age 60 until age 100.

In contrast, its limited pay whole life and health insurance solution Resilience provides accelerated cash payouts and additional health benefits to help policyholders cope with the financial impact of a life-threatening disease.
