Municipal councilor in Zamboanga del Norte shot dead
COTABATO CITY — A gunman shot dead an incumbent municipal councilor in Piñan, Zamboanga del Norte on Thursday, December 19.
Officials of the Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Police Office and the Police Regional Office-9 said on Friday morning, December 20, that the victim, Glecerio Redillas, died on the spot from bullet wounds in the head.
Redillas was reportedly sitting on a swivel chair, working on something on a table on the porch of his house in Barangay Poblacion 2 in Piñan, when a still unidentified man, accompanied by two others who acted as lookouts, came close and repeatedly shot him with a pistol in the head.
The culprit and his companions immediately escaped after Redillas fell on the floor, blood oozing from the bullet wounds in his head.
Police Brig. Gen. Bowenn Joey Masauding, director of PRO-9, said he instructed the officials of the Piñan Municipal Police Station to enlist the help of local officials in putting a closure to the gun attack that left Redillas dead.
