MANILA, Philippines — Jaime Alfonso Antonio Eder Zobel de Ayala, the son of Ayala Corp. (AC) chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, is joining the Inter-Agency Investment Promotion Coordination Committee (IIPCC) as a private sector representative.

Jaime Alfonso has been appointed as a private sector representative from the National Capital Region of the IIPCC. He will serve for a term of three years.

One of the next generation leaders of AC, Jaime Alfonso was recently included in the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders Community Class of 2024.

He assumed a series of key leadership roles in AC shortly after graduating from Harvard University.

These include leadership of the strategic development group where he drove capital deployment into high-growth sectors that have a transformative impact on the Philippines’ economy and communities.

Jaime Alfonso is currently CEO at AC Mobility, AC’s mobility arm which aims to build the first and the largest electric vehicle platform in the Philippines.

He also serves on the board of other Ayala Group companies such as Globe Telecom Inc. and ACEN Corp.

The IIPCC, with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) as the lead agency, was formed to integrate all promotion and facilitation efforts to encourage foreign investments in the country.

The secretary of the DTI chairs the body, while the secretary or undersecretary of the Department of Finance acts as vice chairperson.

It is also composed of four private sector representatives, one representative each for the National Capital Region, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Government representatives of the IIPCC are tasked to prepare a list of nominees for the four private sector representatives.

The private sector representatives must be of known competence, probity, integrity and expertise in any of the fields of investment, advertising, banking, finance management and law.
