MANILA, Philippines — The Ayala Group’s energy platform and health care arm have teamed up to energize the conglomerate’s medical facilities with clean power.

ACEN Corp., through ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions, has partnered with Ayala Healthcare Holdings Inc. (AC Health) to supply six Healthway Medical Network facilities with wind, solar and geothermal power.

“Our partnership with AC Health exemplifies how renewable energy (RE) can enhance essential services like healthcare. This collaboration reinforces our shared vision of creating a more sustainable future for the country,” ACEN president and CEO Eric Francia said.

The strategic alliance is expected to reduce 68,360 tons of carbon emissions throughout the contract period, equivalent to the emissions absorbed by about 3.1 million trees in one year.

The first AC Health facilities to make the transition are Healthway QualiMed Hospital Santa Rosa, Healthway QualiMed Manila and Healthway Cancer Care Hospital, the country’s first specialized cancer care facility.

Other facilities include Healthway QualiMed Hospital San Jose del Monte in Bulacan, Healthway Daniel O. Mercado Medical Center and Far Eastern University-Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation in Quezon City.

AC Health president and CEO Paolo Borromeo, for his part, said both companies are committed to fostering sustainable practices that “make healthcare more affordable and accessible for Filipinos.”

“By embracing RE, we are not only reducing our carbon footprint but also doing our part to ensure a healthier planet for future generations. We are continuously improving our integrated waste management practices to reduce environmental impact across all our operations,” Borromeo said.

AC Health, through Healthway Medical Network, provides various healthcare services through its multi-specialty centers, full-service general hospitals, a surgery center and over 200 corporate clinics nationwide.

As of August last year, the company had a patient base of three million.
