Keeping it safe
MANILA, Philippines — SM Hotels and Conventions Corp. (SMHCC) has tapped testing service provider TUV Rheinland to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality for dining experiences.
SMHCC collaborated with TUV Rheinland in the review of the company’s food safety and hygiene guidelines.
As one of the world’s leading testing service providers, TUV Rheinland tests technical systems, products and services, and tests processes of companies and organizations worldwide.
The scope of the audit for SMHCC encompasses food safety and hygiene policies of its properties, including Taal Vista Hotel, Pico Sands Hotel, Lanson Place Mall of Asia, Park Inn by Radisson Hotels and SMX Convention Centers.
SMHCC said the institution of the policies underlines the company’s pledge to maintain utmost standards when it comes to food safety and hygiene.
“The SMHCC food and safety hygiene program undergoes an annual management review to ensure that it remains relevant to the properties’ operations and compliant with any legislative changes,” the company said.
“It is meant to establish effective control measures and incorporate food safety into business plans, performance evaluations and other operational procedures,” it said.
The company’s food safety and hygiene policies are definitive principles based on local regulations and international food safety standards to ensure that the most stringent protocols are followed across the food chain to prevent foodborne illness incidents.
SMHCC said training and education also form part of the said policies in order to provide comprehensive food safety training for all staff involved in food handling.
Regular refresher courses are also offered to keep its team informed on the latest developments in food safety.
SMHCC was established in 2008 to develop and manage the hotel and convention properties of SM Prime, one of the largest integrated property developers in Southeast Asia.
With a portfolio that is comprised of 10 hotel properties with a combined inventory of more than 2,600 rooms and over 42,000 square meters of leasable convention space, the company aims to be the leading hotel and convention company in the Philippines.
