MANILA, Philippines — Kinapos si para wheelchair racer Jerrold Mang­liwan nang magkasya lamang ito sa ikawalong puwesto sa men’s 400-meter T52 race sa 17th Paris Paralympic Games na gina­ganap sa Stade de France sa Paris.

Nagtala si Mangliwan ng isang minuto at .04.55 segundo ngunit hindi ito sapat para makapasok sa podium sa Paralympics.

“Hindi namin maintindihan yung super bagal niya sa first 150 meters. Dun lang sa last 250 meters bumawi at muntik na niyang naabutan yung nag-seventh place,” ani national para athletic head coach Joel Deriada.

Namayagpag si reig­ning Belgian world champion Maxime Carabine na may matikas na 55.10 segundo na naitala habang puma­ngalawa naman si Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Sato Tomoki na may 56.26 segundo.

Nasa ikatlo ang isa pang Japanese bet na si Ito Tomoya na may 1:01.08.

Nakatakda namang sumalang sina taekwondo jin Alain Ganapin at swimmer Ernie Gawilan sa kani-kanyang events kahapon.

Makakalaban ni Ganapin sa first round si Hadi Hassanzada ng Refugee Paralympic Team sa men’s K44 -80-kilogram sa Grand Palais.

Sa kabilang banda, hataw naman ang Asian Para Games gold medalist na si Gawilan sa men’s 200m individual medley SM7 heats sa Paris La Defense Arena.
