MANILA, Philippines — The local government of Quezon City, led by Mayor Joy Belmonte, has teamed up with emerging courier Ninja Van Philippines to support the logistics needs of small businesses.
Ninja Van yesterday announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the local government of Quezon City to explore e-commerce and logistics opportunities.
In particular, the MOU seeks to come up with programs to improve the capacity of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The partnership aims to expand the reach of MSMEs in Quezon City by maximizing the technological infrastructure of Ninja Van.
The company is becoming a courier of choice by many MSMEs for its coverage that goes as far as Tawi-Tawi.
Belmonte is looking forward to the programs that her office may develop in the tie-up with Ninja Van.
She said the local government believes in the power of technology to expand business networks, particularly for MSMEs.
“The Quezon City government recognizes the transformative power of interconnectivity and of technology as drivers of a responsive government. We are excited to work with Ninja Van to harness technology and innovation to serve our constituents better,” Belmonte said.
In 2022 Ninja Van built a packaging hub in Quezon City that can process at least 50,000 parcels every day, dedicating the facility for e-commerce deliveries in Metro Manila and Central Luzon.
Ninja Van country head Jose Alvin Perez announced recently that the company intends to widen its presence outside of Metro Manila, as it eyes the delivery demand in islands around Mindanao.
Perez is expecting the logistics demand in urban centers like Metro Manila, Cebu and Davao to remain its growth drivers.
He said the company is not expecting a decline in the e-commerce segment even as Filipinos are shopping in physical stores again in the pandemic aftermath.
The company wants to offer its all-in-one solution called Ninja Fulfillment to local businesses in Quezon City. The service compresses in a single package all of the logistics needs of an MSME, from manpower to warehousing.
The courier also hopes to find a market for its new service named Ninja Restock, which marked its expansion in the business-to-business space, its first outside of the e-commerce vertical.
Ninja Van has a fleet of 8,000 drivers on two wheels, three wheels and four wheels, delivering packages anywhere in the archipelago.
