MANILA, Philippines — State-run Land Bank of the Philippines (Landbank) has introduced a digital savings account to push overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) toward financial independence.

Landbank said it would launch the GoBayani, a digital deposit account that will provide OFWs access to digital banking services aimed at financially empowering migrant workers.

GoBayani will also allow OFWs to transact online such as fund transfers, bills payments and other government transactions.

Landbank president and CEO Lynette Ortiz said the new digital product targets to help OFWs save and grow their money and aid them toward financial independence.

OFWs may open GoBayani savings account with no initial deposit and maintaining balance through their phones via the Landbank mobile banking application (MBA)

“Investing in our digital infrastructure forms part of our response to the increasing demand for convenient digital solutions,” Ortiz said.

Aside from GoBayani, customers can also open a Land Bank Piso Plus basic deposit account and a regular Landbank Visa debit account through the MBA.

The Landbank MBA is a free application that offers online fund transfers, bills payment, balance inquiry and salary loan services.
