In a statement, Meralco Energy Inc. (MSERV) said the collaboration with STT GDC Philippines is expected to promote innovation and drive technological advancement in the digital industry.

MANILA, Philippines — A unit of Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) is set to provide power to the largest hyperscale data center of ST Telemedia Global Data Centers Philippines (STT GDC Philippines) in the country.

In a statement, Meralco Energy Inc. (MSERV) said the collaboration with STT GDC Philippines is expected to promote innovation and drive technological advancement in the digital industry.

STT GDC Philippines is a joint venture of Globe Telecom Inc., Ayala Corp. and Singapore-based ST Telemedia Global Data Centers.

The partnership involves MSERV energizing the facility in Fairview, Quezon City this year.

MSERV secured the contract for the supply and installation of key data center electrical equipment such as high voltage gas-insulated switch gears, high voltage oil- immersed transformers and medium voltage dry type transformers in November last year.

A hyperscale data center is a large-scale facility providing critical data storage and applications to businesses. Aside from occupying a large area, this type of facility also has huge energy needs.

“Meralco’s commitment to providing reliable power is a significant factor in our selection for our STT Fairview data center project,” Pierre San Diego, STT GDC Philippines’ head of design and construction, said.

“This collaboration goes beyond just securing electricity; it fuels a shared vision for a transformative digital future that unlocks innovation and growth across the nation,” he said further.

MSERV president and CEO Ronald Torres said the company goes beyond traditional offerings and is prepared to deliver energy efficiency solutions to meet STT GDC Philippines’ unique requirements.

“MSERV is deeply committed to our ongoing partnership. Together, we are not just providers of data center services but digital enablers toward a progressive future. We hope to continue playing a significant role in fostering innovation and driving technological advancement to new heights,” Torres said.
