Definitely for collectors
Ford Philippines last week unveiled two of its most iconic brands for car enthusiasts at the grand ballroom of Okada Manila – the all-new Ford Mustang and the off-road sports utility vehicle Ford Bronco.
The two vehicles, mind you, are not really for ordinary car owners, but for those who have a passion for iconic models and who can afford to collect them.
With a price tag of almost P4 million for the seventh generation sports coupe, the latest Mustang model promises to give customers a different level of pony power. It actually comes in two variants: the 5.0L GT premium fastback with a starting retail price of P3,999,000 and the 2.3L EcoBoost premium fastback that starts at P3,499,000.
Sporty on the outside, the interiors also hint at the Mustang’s speed with Recaro leather-trimmed sport seats and soft-touch accents all around. A very sexy-looking car, indeed, if I may say so.
Long associated with speed and power, the latest Mustang offers no less for those who choose to drive it, with a 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 engine to power a 10-speed select-shift automatic transmission capable of producing 493 PS of power and 567 NM of torque.
The EcoBoost premium fastback variant, meanwhile, has a 2.3L EcoBoost engine to power a 10-speed select-shift automatic transmission capable of producing 319 PS of power and 475 Nm of torque.
While everything about the car has hints of its muscle car DNA, the all-new Mustang comes equipped with the latest driving and safety technology, starting with its selectable drive modes that will allow drivers to easily maneuver across different road conditions as they can choose between different drive modes: normal, sport, slippery, custom, track, and drag strip – all with a simple click.
A new magnesium-framed 13-inch colored center display offers seamless connectivity with the vehicle, with Sync 4 and enhanced voice recognition, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto compatibility, and wireless mobile charging.
The current Mustang model also comes with Ford Co-Pilot360 technology that actively assists drivers while enhancing the overall road experience. It has a blind spot information system (BLIS) with cross-traffic alert and braking, auto high-beam headlights, post-impact braking, adaptive cruise control with stop and go and lane centering assist function.
It also has pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking (AEB) and evasive steer assist that alert and assist the driver if a potential collision is detected.
Additional technology in the Mustang is the FordPass connectivity, with certain features such as the intelligent oil life monitor, vehicle status and location, giving owners all the information they need.
The all-new Mustang will be available in the following colors: vapor blue, iconic silver, race red, oxford white and shadow black. There are also GT premium exclusive colors: grabber blue and yellow splash which customers can get for an additional P20,000. It is exclusively available for online reservation via the Ford Philippines website.
Ford Bronco
Ford Philippines is also reinforcing its strong foothold in the off-road vehicle segment with the official launch of the all-new Ford Bronco in the country, marking the arrival of its iconic off-road SUV which has been a hit in the US.
Unveiled to the Philippine public for the first time, the Ford Bronco will come in the Outer Banks variant with Sasquatch Package at a starting retail price of P4,998,000. It also comes with a complimentary Peace of Mind service inspection package for a worry-free ownership experience.
According to Mike Breen, managing director of Ford Philippines, “The SUV that started it all for Ford is finally here. We are excited that Filipinos get to finally experience the off-road performance of the all-new Bronco. With its iconic design and rugged terrain capabilities, adventure seekers are in for a thrill as it can take on extreme conditions in the great outdoors.”
Its G.O.A.T. modes (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain) can match the SUV’s performance to the terrain, weather, or whatever the roads and trails throw your way with the simple turn of a dial. It has a high-performance off-road stability suspension (HOSS) system with position-sensitive Bilstein shock absorbers designed for the harshest conditions, helping deliver off-road stability at higher speeds and great precision at lower speeds.
A 4.7 final drive ratio with electronic-locking front and rear axle engineered for maximum traction helps ensure grip and torque are optimal no matter the drive. Similarly, a high clearance suspension and high clearance fender flares easily help the Bronco traverse off-road terrain and also help keep mud, dirt, and other elements away from the vehicle body.
A 17-inch black high-gloss-painted aluminum, with warm alloy beauty ring, beadlock capable wheels adds more muscle to the overall look of the Bronco and also helps in off-road situations – giving tires better traction in low air-pressure situations. A 35-inch mud-terrain tires help give the SUV added traction whether driving through muddy, rocky, or uphill conditions.
Powering the Bronco is a 2.7L EcoBoost V6 Engine with auto start-stop, which is capable of delivering 335 PS of power and 555 Nm of torque for its 10-speed automatic transmission for off-roading or trail riding.
Aside from its powerful engine, the Bronco has leather-trimmed seats in dark space gray and navy pier color with a 10-way power adjust for the driver’s seat and eight-way power adjust for the front passenger, extending flexibility to cater to various seating preferences.
Combining functionality and style, the Bronco comes with a carbonized gray molded-in-color hard top with sound-deadening headliner that’s ready to withstand a variety of weather conditions. It also gives an open-air rush with an easy-to-pull-off-and-store removable roof and doors option.
Connectivity is also a core feature of the Bronco starting with a Sync 4 infotainment system with a 12-inch colored touchscreen with swipe capability and enhanced voice recognition ensuring easier access to various controls of the vehicle. The screen also doubles as a monitor for the 360-degree camera that gives better visibility especially in rocky and unpredictable terrain. It is also equipped with a premium B&O sound system with 10 speakers including a subwoofer for an immersive listening experience.
Similar to the Mustang, the Bronco also comes with Ford Co-Pilot360 technology, a suite of enhanced driver-assist technologies and safety features such as auto high-beam headlights, adaptive cruise control, BLIS with cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping system, and pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking.
The Bronco is available in the following colors: eruption green, race red, cactus gray, oxford white, azure gray (additional P20,000), and shadow black. It is exclusively available for online reservation via the Ford Philippines website and is expected to arrive at Ford dealerships starting mid-June.
