MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) will craft master plans for 10 ports that it intends to build across the archipelago to improve inter-island trade and travel.
In a request for expression of interest, the PPA said it is ready to spend P32.29 million to hire consultancy services for the development of feasibility studies and master plans for select ports.
The ports included in the contract will be built in Davila, Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte; Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro; Taytay, Palawan and Buenavista, Guimaras.
The contract also covers plans for San Carlos, Negros Occidental; Dumaguete, Negros Oriental; and Lazi, Siquijor. It also includes ports in Catbalogan, Samar; Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur and Cagdianao, Dinagat Islands.
Consultants eyeing the contract have to submit eligibility documents for the scope of services. In particular, the winning bidder for the project will be mandated to deliver the following: previous studies; existing conditions and demand; and proposed development and operation.
The contractor will be tasked to evaluate the ports on the economic, financial and environmental fronts, too.
For this project, the PPA will receive eligibility documents until June 5, and will draw up a short list of qualified companies who can participate in the bidding process.
On top of this, the PPA issued another request for expression of interest for consultancy services to investigate marine structures in nine ports around the Philippines.
The agency is allocating P46.87 million for the contract. The winning bidder for the project will do an inventory of marine structures for ports in Pulupandan, Negros Occidental; Culasi, Roxas, Capiz; Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental and Ozamiz, Misamis Occidental.
Further, the project covers facilities in Tacloban, Leyte; Ormoc, Leyte; and Balanacan, Mogpog, Marinduque. Ports in Capinpin, Bataan and Calapan, Oriental Mindoro are also included.
For this one, the PPA will accept eligibility documents until June 6, and will also come up with a short list of prospective companies who can take part in the bidding process.
Both of the consultancy works must be completed within a year from the receipt of the contractor of the notice to proceed.
