MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has cut short the one-year test run of the web-based lotto betting app platform set up by listed lotto technology firm Pacific Online Systems Corp. (POSC) and has launched a bidding for a five-year contract for lease provision of a web-based app for electronic lotto or “e-lotto” system.

PCSO general manager and vice chairman Mel Robles said the cancellation of the one-year test run of the web-based app had been done upon the advise of the Office of the Government Corporate Counsel (OGCC).

“The test run will end by June and we need to bid out the provider for the e-lotto in accordance to the advice of the OGCC,” Robles told The STAR.

Robles noted that the test run has already achieved its purpose of testing the digitalization of the lotto games.

“We have already tested the technical and financial viability of the e-lotto,”  he said.

The e-lotto platform set up by POSC was launched last Dec. 15.  The launch came after the PCSO signed last Aug. 30, 2023 a memorandum of agreement with the listed lotto technology systems provider for the one-year trial run of e-lotto gaming in the country.

POSC said during the one year trial run, it will act as PCSO’s exclusive agent, generating gross revenues equivalent to 14 percent of PCSO’s gross sales from the platform.
