MANILA, Philippines — Metro Pacific Health Corp. (MPH), the first and largest private hospital network in the country, has bolstered anew its portfolio with the acquisition of a majority shareholding in UHBI-Parañaque Doctors Hospital Inc. (PDH).
PDH is MPH’s 10th hospital in Metro Manila and the 24th hospital in its growing nationwide portfolio of healthcare facilities.
PDH was established 21 years ago by a group of 58 founders consisting of doctors, professionals and entrepreneurs.
It is a 94-bed Level 2 hospital along Doña Soledad Avenue, Better Living Subdivision in Parañaque City.
Sitting on about 6,000 square meters of land, PDH has facilities that include a new seven-story building which was completed just prior to the onset of the pandemic.
When fully activated, it can boost capacity of the hospital to a total of 150 beds.
The hospital caters mainly to its surrounding barangays of Don Bosco, Sun Valley and Moonwalk, and also extends its market reach to other high-density residential villages in the city.
It has a strong pool of over 200 active doctors.
“Our investment in UHBI-Parañaque Doctors Hospital marks a significant milestone in our journey to expand access to quality healthcare across the Philippines and serve more communities in the country,” MPH CEO Harish Pillai said.
“As we integrate UHBI-Parañaque Doctors Hospital into the Metro Pacific Health group, our focus remains steadfast on delivering patient-centered care, prioritizing quality, safety and affordability,” Pillai said.
MPH’s transformation plan for PDH will include full utilization of the new building, improvement of the patient flow and enhancement of patient experience, through the rationalization of its ground floor, upgrade of hospital equipment and improvement of clinic spaces.
All of these are geared toward drawing in the larger outpatient market of Parañaque and its environs.
“Parañaque City is a key market between Makati and Muntinlupa, which MPH has been keen to have a presence in. We are grateful to be part of PDH, a hospital with a rich history,” MPH president Augie Palisoc Jr. said.
Other premier hospital names in MPH’s portfolio include Asian Hospital and Medical Center, Cardinal Santos Medical Center, Manila Doctors Hospital, Davao Doctors Hospital and Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod.
