Acciona advocates water conservation
MANILA, Philippines — Acciona, a global sustainable infrastructure company, recently launched its water conservation campaign to raise awareness among young children and empower them to become stewards of the vital resource.
The “Take Care of the Water” campaign unveiled last Friday, in time for the celebration of World Water Day 2024, was held in collaboration with PAREF Southridge and PAREF Woodrose schools. It involves equipping children with a water kit containing essential tools such as a backpack, sustainable waterdrop, leaflet and poster.
Through engaging activities, students were taught water-saving practices and creative measures on water reuse.
“We believe that educating the younger generation about water conservation is pivotal to securing a sustainable future,” said Samantha Betia, head of marketing Southeast Asia at Acciona.
“Through the Take Care of the Water campaign, we aim to instill the importance of water conservation in children and empower them to take meaningful action,” she said.
Science teachers also actively participated and led class discussions to reinforce learning and encourage the sharing of experiences.
Javier Ruiz, EPC director of Acciona Agua, said they are committed to addressing water scarcity and sanitation challenges through both operations and innovative projects.
“This year, through the Take Care of the Water campaign, we aim to educate and empower children as conservation champions, extending our message beyond classrooms to homes and communities,” said Ruiz.
Acciona is a Spanish multinational conglomerate dedicated to the development and management of infrastructure and renewable energy.
It has identified the Philippines as a key country for its Southeast Asia strategy, predominantly in water treatment and transport infrastructure.
