Thai cement maker to open Philippines plant this year

MANILA, Philippines — Thai fiber cement maker Shera Public Co. Ltd. is pouring in P2 billion for its plant in Pampanga, which is expected to open this year.

In a statement, Shera said it made a P2 billion investment for its construction plant in Mabalacat, Pampanga.

The Mabalacat plant is Shera’s first manufacturing facility outside Thailand.

Shera said the plant would open for operations by the end of this year in time for its 50th anniversary in the industry.

Shera offers fiber cement that can be used for different ceilings, floors and wall applications including wall cladding, sidings, floor decking and ceiling eaves.

Shera country head for Philippines and Malaysia Thunnop Jumpasri said the plant would have an annual capacity of 100,000 metric tons (MT) for the first year of operations that will eventually be increased to 200,000 MT per year.

The facility will have 120 to 150 employees.

Through the opening of Shera’s construction plant in the Philippines, the firm’s sustainable and eco-friendly products will become more accessible to Filipinos, particularly those looking for greener solutions into their establishments, buildings or homes.

Shera aims to develop green products through energy-efficient and environmentally friendly production measures and green technology to promote a safe and healthy environment.
