MANILA, Philippines — Maynilad Water Services will spend about P4 billion to rehabilitate 22 pumping stations and reservoirs (PSRs) to boost the water supply and pressure in the West Zone concession area.

The company said the project would sustain the delivery of piped-in water supply at adequate pressure to some four million customers in Caloocan, Las Piñas, Manila, Muntinlupa, Quezon City, Parañaque, Pasay and portions of Cavite province.

Maynilad said the upgrade of the PSRs, which operate non-stop, would involve the following activities: retrofitting to improve structural resiliency, replacing electronic and electrical equipment for enhanced pump operations, increasing reservoir capacity for better water service reliability during maintenance activities and emergencies and upgrading of the pumps and motors to further boost water pressure.

It added that its PSR upgrade and rehabilitation project started last year and is expected to be completed in 2027.

“This maintenance project—along with our planned construction of new PSRs over the next five years—is part of our service enhancement program that will ensure sustained water access in light of higher water demand,” Maynilad COO Randolph Estrellado said.

“It will help to keep the water infrastructure resilient and responsive to the needs of our growing customer base.”

Maynilad currently has 39 pumping stations and 39 reservoirs located in strategic locations throughout its West Zone concession area.

The company is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base.

It is the concessionaire of the MWSS for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (all but portions of San Andres and Sta. Ana), Quezon City (west of San Juan River, West Avenue, EDSA, Congressional, Mindanao Avenue, the northern part starting from the Districts of the Holy Spirit & Batasan Hills).
