MANILA, Philippines — East zone concessionaire Manila Water Co. Inc. is making headway in the construction of Mandaluyong West Sewer Network Package 1, with completion expected later this year.

In a statement yesterday, Manila Water said the project is already 64.49 percent complete.

According to Manila Water, the sewer project located in Barangay Hulo, Mandaluyong City, is aligned with the company’s efforts of bringing quality sewerage and sanitation services to its customers.

The project will form part of a massive 51-kilometer sewer network called the Mandaluyong West-San Juan South-Quezon City South Sewer Project.

The entire P4.2-billion sewer network project will have a 60-million-liter-per-day (MLD) capacity sewer treatment plant, which is expandable to 120 MLD.

In addition, it will also include one major pump station, 13 lift stations, 276 interceptor boxes, and a 16-channel interceptor.

Manila Water said the sewer network is expected to serve 704,260 residents of Mandaluyong, San Juan, and Quezon City by 2037.

“Manila Water is ramping up its sewerage and sanitation services to reach more customers as part of its Service Improvement Plan. The company is investing heavily in wastewater infrastructure to contribute to better community health and promote environmental sustainability,” Manila Water Corporate Communications Affairs Group director Jeric Sevilla said.

Aside from the Mandaluyong West Sewer Network Project, Manila Water also expects to complete another sewage treatment facility particularly the Hinulugang Taktak Sewer Treatment Plant (HT STP) in December.

“Made possible through a partnership with the Rizal Provincial Government, the local government of Antipolo City and the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System, the HT STP will have the capacity to treat 16 MLD of wastewater to help rehabilitate the historic Hinulugang Taktak falls,” the company said.

Manila Water said the Mandaluyong West Sewer Network Project Package 1 and the Hinulugang Taktak STP are all part of its Three-River System Wastewater Masterplan to help rehabilitate and protect waterways and provide its ever-growing customer base with the best sanitation and sewerage services.

Manila Water serves the East Zone which encompasses parts of Makati, Mandaluyong, Pasig, Pateros, San Juan, Taguig, Marikina, most parts of Quezon City, portions of Manila, as well as several towns in Rizal.
